Story
As a newly divorced single mom making $24,000 per year and facing down $77,000 in debt, Kumiko Love worried constantly about money. She saw what other moms had—vacations, birthday parties, a house full of furniture—and felt ashamed that she and her son lived in a small apartment and ate dinner on the floor. Worse, when her feelings began to exhaust her, she binge-shopped, reasoning that she’d feel better after a trip to the mall.

Wind back the clock on any Australian or New Zealand woman in her thirties or forties today and you'd probably find a Triangl bikini tucked away in her swimwear drawer. The uniquely neoprene, colour-blocked bikinis were the summer accessory season after season. Yet as customers snapped selfies at the beach, one woman was holed up in a smog-filled Hong Kong apartment, living on canned soup, battling twenty-hour days and debilitating depression, trying to make it all happen.

Money - investing, personal finance, and business decisions - is typically taught as a math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don’t make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money.

Absolute Joke of a book!
Canna constantly repeats herself throughout this book. On numerous occasions I thought to myself I have heard this before over and over. It was getting really old constantly listening to her 'manifesting' and 'feeling empowered', basically this book is just a feel-good book with less than 10% actual money skills. Don't get me wrong, I am all for manifesting and positive energy, however, the way she has written this book has completely turned me off any advice she has. What I took away from this book could have been a page long. Utterly disappointed, I am glad others found it helpful, however, there are A LOT of better books out there for financial advice and saving techniques.

Skip the book-Watch the you tube channel instead
The 1000$ project idea in itself is new and unique. But there’s nothing new in the book if you have watched the author’s youtube videos.
There are a lot of inconsistencies that make us not believe the author.
For example,
she says she automatically reinvests the dividends back, but also says that she donates her dividends. Both cannot be true.
She says she gets 5% in dividends - typically dividends are 2-3%. But if there are share that gives 5% dividends, she has not shared their names in the book.
This makes me not believe that she saved 32,000$ (3000$/month) in a year.
