Is There An On Property Plus Affiliate Program? (Ep220)

ARVE Error: Mode: lazyload not available (ARVE Pro not active?), switching to normal mode

The question I’ll be answering in this post is from Dida who asked, “Hi Ryan, do you have an affiliate program related to your membership?”

The simple answer is no. I do not have an affiliate program. But what I wanted to do is explain why I don’t have an affiliate program and what I’m planning to do.

Dida I appreciate you asking me this question. You’re actually the first person to ask whether I have an affiliate program and I’m very grateful that you believe in me enough that you would want to market my site and recommend me to other people. There’s obviously financial gain in it for you but that doesn’t matter because by wanting to market me you’re saying that this is a good product. So a massive thank you for having so much faith in me and for supporting me. I’m so grateful to my community and everyone that watches, listens and reads. Also a special thank you to the members of On Property Plus.

I made a decision not to have an affiliate program for On Property Plus. This may seem strange because I know that with an affiliate program I could get more sales but it’s not because I don’t want to give away a cut of the membership. The year 2014 is really the year for me to build my business and business skills. Now a lot of people don’t know this but for me On Property is my flagship site and is also one piece to a larger puzzle.

What I plan to do in the future is create multiple websites in different niches to teach people a variety of things. I’ve got a public speaking site, a site about fatigue and a site about energy drinks. I also want to do other sites like one on homeschooling because I’m considering homeschooling. In the future I would like to work in third-world countries and help them with an informal type of education that’s not run by the government and helps people to live a better life.

The thing that I wanted to learn as I build my business is how to successfully create a community around a certain topic, build that community and then find out what the community wants.

I was recently met up with my friend James Brian (who is an epic internet marketer and copywriter) and he told me that there are so many people in my industry who have email lists of all of their customers. There are accountants, financial planners, marketers, other websites and mortgage brokers. He said I could go to all these people, offer them an affiliate deal, call it “joint venture” and get them to email lists to anyone that signs up. They make a profit and I could build my membership site much faster.

I think it’s a great idea and I do agree with him but for me I know that what I want to learn is how to grow a community over and over again. I don’t want to rely on joint ventures or other people marketing my product. I want to learn how to market it myself. I want to have a tight-knit community that loves the content that I put out and wants to learn about it. I want them to drive what the product becomes and I want to find out how to successfully repeat the method.

At the moment it’s just me, my laptop, my iPhone filming, my little lapel mic and my larger computer that I use to produce content. Eventually though I want to scale out and have multiple employees so that I can take education all over the world.

Affiliates are a great idea but for me it would take my focus away from what I want to do. One of the things you don’t get to do with having affiliates is control the message and how it’s marketed. I want to have full control with the products I create so that I don’t need to change them to fit in with other people.

Again I am super grateful that you would want to market my product but at this time and even looking into the future it’s not something that I plan to do.  If things change and I do decide to go back into the workforce I would rather have On Property run on autopilot because I put so much effort into it now. If it were to come to that then affiliates would be something that I would explore.

If you want to try and change my mind certainly email me and let me know who you are, what you do and why you’d be a perfect fit. Maybe I could bend the rules for a couple of people that I truly believe in.

If you have any questions email at [email protected] or go to onproperty.com.au/contact. I’m answering every single question I get so keep sending them in. And if you want to find out about my membership site On Property Plus go to onproperty.com.au/plus. You can check out the video there to find out what it’s about and choose the pricing that best suits you.

Until tomorrow remember your that long term success is only achieved one day at a time.
